Bissell Maple Farm boasts over a century of family tradition, with 100+ years of maple in our family tree. Our sixth-generation maple farming heritage and deep connection to Ohio’s maple industry give us a unique position as a company that is rooted in history but always looking forward to the future. We know the humble beginnings that the Ohio maple industry came from and are so happy to see it continue to grow. We’re at home with who we are, but we don’t like to stagnate.

Combining Small Farm and Large-Scale Production
We’re very proud of our history and owe today’s success to the old-timers who started it all. At one time, the family farm produced apples and flowers and was a working dairy–maple syrup was a local pastime that supplied friends and family with the sweet treat that everyone loved and craved.
Eventually, after many life and business changes, today’s leader, Nate Bissell, found his way back to the maples. And as he notes, “We weren’t just making syrup for our family anymore, having fun in the backyard. It shifted from serious hobby to a business.” Bissell Maple Farm has run the gamut, from small backyard operation to large-scale production model. But all along the way, quality was always maintained. Today, a good portion of the bulk maple syrup we sell is not sourced from the farm, but you can still trust that it’s double- and triple-checked for authenticity and quality. We work with both small artisanal farms and larger operations, and our 40,000 sq ft industrial-scale facility gives us unique capabilities, such as being able to say we have the only automated maple syrup bottling line in Ohio. This ensures that we can meet the demands of stores, restaurants, bulk suppliers and other businesses for that pure, delicious maple syrup.
Because of our scale, and the nature of our work, we can ensure consistency and high production capacity. We are also able to help educate the public about the long and storied history of maple syrup production in Ohio and across the maple belt.
